Dear SibsDear Sibs, is it me or has anyone else noticed the awesome moves God is making? It feels like a revolution - not that I've ever experience one before. However, from my reading I know that 'revolution' is defined as -

1) a single and complete turn;
2) a drastic and far-reaching change in ways of thinking and behaviour; and
3) the overthrow of one government by those who are governed.

Hmmm, this got me thinking. More and more, I am witnessing God completely change people's thinking and behaviour 360 degrees - mine included! I'm talking about drastic changes. You know, where the only explanation is 'It can only have been God!' God has shifted up a gear and we need to ensure we do not trail behind.

We often hear people say, "the end is nigh" so much so that we may have become slightly (or in some cases very) complacent. It's the tomorrow-tomorrow attitude but what would you do and say if Jesus came knocking at your door right this second? Are you prepared? What are you doing to build yourself and others up? Are you a today person or a tomorrow's? As usual, just a few things to get you thinking.

Until next month,

Chantal

'Be Still...'

Every week at work an email is sent out reminding people to pay their lottery money for both the National and the Euro Lottery and every week I am informed that I will be the only one left in the office when they collect the jackpot. Needless to say that day has not come.

Over the last few months, I have explored developmental topics of a personal and spiritual nature but this month, in my humblest opinion, is the secret to a victorious life. The secret to success, happiness and fulfillment. The secret for a life that blesses others and ultimately brings glory to God.

People rushing - station

I am confident that if you purchase this ticket you will win the jackpot time and time again. How many people do you know have played the lottery and won on multiple occasions? Hardly, none if any at all. Well, I’m telling you pay up and you will win and for added security this ticket is not a gamble.

What am I talking about? A well-known verse holds the key – “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). I have heard it so many times, as probably you, that it is engrained on my brain but what exactly does this mean?

The art of being still is much harder than you think. I tried it and I consider myself to be a very disciplined person. I laid down on my bed and said, “Chantal, be still” after about 10 seconds I realised my toes were twitching so I stopped. A few seconds after, my nose started to itch so I automatically scratched it. Then my head was itching and before I knew it I had moved a number of times. That was just my physical body which in theory should be a lot easier to control than my thoughts. They were racing!

According to Charlie Greer, "the National Science Foundation put out some very interesting statistics... the average person thinks about twelve thousand thoughts per day. A deeper thinker... puts fifty thousand thoughts daily."

First, I thought about having six days to update the lifestyle section of this website; then I thought about the meeting scheduled for 11am the following day; then the meeting at 7pm the following evening; then the 3½ conversation I had with my cousin. “Chantal, Be Still!”

Be Still - meditatingI finally shut down the thought processes and concentrated on my breathing. At which point, as it was 12.08am, I realised I might just doze off if I was not careful!

In order to cash in on the jackpot you have to take some action, i.e. purchasing a ticket. As one lottery slogan goes, “you got to be in it, to win it”. You are not going to reap the rewards, if you do not sow anything into it.

Once you have mastered the ‘Be Still’ part the second part ‘and know that I am God’ kicks in.

‘To know’ is to fully understand, to comprehend, to have ultimate awareness and knowledge of. To be confident, secure and bold in that knowledge. It is definite and unambiguous.

So, what must we know? ‘that I am God’. That He alone is God. No other thing or person can compare. Who or what do you turn to when you have a problem? There is no issue using other people so long as you know he is your ultimate source – the jackpot!

“Be Still and Know that I am God!” and “it will be you!”.

Peace & Love

Chantal
