UK gospel singer involved in child sex scandal (17.11.08)
A UK Gospel singer has been charged recently with sexual offences against children.
As reported in this week’s New Nation newspaper, Jason Hoyte, 37, is alleged to have had penetrative sex with a child aged 13 and 15, sexual activity with a child under 16 and four counts of indecent assault. There are three alleged victims. The police said the alleged offences took place between Jan 2006 and Jan 2007.
The Barbados-born, married father who was part of the UK Gospel group, The Brothers, has been linked to a number of London churches including the popular Ruach Ministeries where he was a personal assistant to head minister, Bishop John Francis.
Hoyte also ran his own choir from a library in South London. Hoyte was bailed from an Inner London Court in October and is due to enter a plea in January 2009.
