Here we are again, and in grand style we kick things off with the very talented Victoria Adexa, winner of the last months' U-Select and then whisk you off on a journey through the sound of the guitar! :) where would christian music be without the guitar? Guitars are like cockroaches, they will always be there, even if there's a huuuge nuclear explosion...they will still be there! So with that pivotal declaration, lets get our headbanging going and air guitars...well...sort of.... Also, don't forget to check out the music page and get voting for next month's show starter!

Song: Praise Party
Album: The Prologue

Victoria Adexa, winner of last month's U-select Competition, has presented a very good start to her music career. The track has an upbeat and infectious ring to it and a well written hook. With time and experience, we can see her delivery and writing going to another level to become a prominent figure in the scene. We wish her all the best, she's got the talent!

"Uncle" Toby is one of those guys who just ooozes cool! and this track goes further to cement that swagger. The former front man of the now disbanded DC Talk, has an infectious energy that literally seeps through the speakers and just captures you. If this portable sound doesn't shake you up, I don't know what will!

The young and very talented Mr Carty has been a rising star in the UK Gospel Scene for a while. This rough and ready offering from his debut album "Journey to Purpose" shows there's a little grit behind that baby face! With vocals reminiscent of Musiq Soul Child, Ryan's a real soul gem. Don't forget to get his album, its rather moreish! :)

KevinMax-TheBloodKevin Max
Song: People Get ready (feat Mary Mary)
Album: The Blood

We tried to find words to describe the singer, songwriter, and poet called Kevin Max, we ended up with "WOW"... (yeah that's a word right:? :) Kevin Max, former member of DC Talk (hang on....that's the third DC Talk connection here...hmmm...) , has one of the most distinct and poetic styles in Christian music and on new album "The Blood" pushes himself to the edge with soul acoustic Gospel gusto. Teaming up with Erika Campbell of Sibling Duo Mary Mary, to deliver a wonderful rendition of "People Get Ready" I'm sure you'll agree that this dude is "WOW" he he he he

Arrivingalbum chris tomlinChris Tomlin
Song: How Great is Our God
Album: Arriving

According to the Christian Copyright Licensing International, Tomlin is the most sung Christian artist in the United States, and "How great is our God" is one of the most pivotal Chistian worship songs ever written. The album: Arriving, was released in 2004 and was named so because, according to Chris, after reading a passage in Isaiah 40, he said; "I feel as though we’re like this landing strip in the desert for our great, incredible God to arrive on; a way for Him to come into people’s lives.”

out of eden hymnsOut of Eden
Album: Hymns
Song: Better is One Day

Out of Eden are officially Christian Music Royalty! And were another in a long line of sibling vocal groups that have been a major part of Gospel/contemproary Christian music heritage since the dawn of the genre. The three real life sisters Lisa Kimmey, Andrea Kimmey-Baca and Danielle Kimmey, have now disbanded, but not before the release of their "Greatest Hits" in 2006! and if you're a fan, you'll gush at the thought of their debut song "Lovely Day" way back in '94.
All Bout Christ Cover V1All Bout Christ
Song: Letting Go
Album: All Bout Christ

Yep, it's back again. We had to do it, this song is pure poetry. It just really does something to the soul. Rather proud that they are a young and talented group of British artists! :)

Maybe it'll be back on the playlist next month...hmmm.

foy vance hopeFoy Vance
Album: Hope
Song: Gabriel and the Vagabound

So we thought we'd take you down the folk route, after all, its guitar month remember? :) On July 2, 2007 Foy's debut album Hope was released to critical acclaim. With his trademark hat and alternative guitar tuning, the guy just weaves stories in the most profound way and I'm pretty sure you'd be hard pressed to find a more poetic singer songwriter than the man from Northern Ireland.
abundant life send meAbundant Life Church
Song: Name above all Names
Album: Send Me

Bradford's Abundant Life Church have been serving up good quality worship albums for a while and this gem is one of our favourites! It just says it like it is "Jesus, Name above all names".
Tye Tribbett Cover V1Tye Tribbet & GA
Album: Standout
Song: (Bless the Lord) Son of Man

Over the last few years, we've seen a convergence of genres, where the Gospel artists have more often adopted a rock sound to some of their songs. This cracker is from Mr non-stop himself: Tye Tribbet and his equally energetic ensemble G.A (Greater Annointing). You've just got to love the energy and passion in this one.
RivalfactionsmarketProject 86
Song: Put your Lips to the TV
Album: Rival Factions

Yeah, yeah, yeah! Guitars are lovely things aren't they? Especially when you can crank them up to make such crazy noise! A friend popped this in our CD player and what ensued was pure pandemonium! I mean, how could you not start head banging when you hear this? :) Project 86 have been delivering head banging treats for over 10 years! Go check out their latest project "Rival Projects".
HoldingNothingBackalbumcover tTim Hughes
Album: Holding Nothing Back
Song: Happy Day

You see, the thing with Tim Hughes is he just looks like such a nice, reserved, quite boy. A quintessential English gentleman. So we were very very impressed to hear this full on in yer face belter, off his latest album "Holding Nothing Back"! So, without further ado, start clapping and singing along like a football supporter!
