Gospel record label for fat artists (23.09.08)
US Gospel songtress Sherrie Keys has launched Chubby Girl Records - a label that welcomes plus-sized artists to its books.
Even though Keys states that praise and worship is the passion and mission of her label, she intends to use the project as a message to plus-sized consumers that living a life with purpose can be achieved at any size.
“We don't advocate obesity as a healthy lifestyle choice. We advocate a positive self-image as the foundation to holistic health,” Keys says.
Keys will be the first gospel recording artist distributed on the label's roster.
Keys also plans to launch a new clothing line for large-sized consumers believing that big women deserve "fashion equality" in the market. "We won't need couture robes when we get to heaven," Keys says on her site, "but a few designer garments down here would be divine."
