Film shows child perception of conflict (16.09.08)
UK Christian leaders have watched a special preview of a controversial new film, about one of Europe’s most horrific tragedies. ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ was shown by the Evangelical Alliance at an event called ‘Not on our Watch’ at the Disney Studios in Hammersmith, London earlier this month. The film's message helped leaders learn about the importance of their work dealing with poverty and human trafficking. The preview also encouraged viewers to consider the Christian response to conflict. The film, which was adapted from John Boyne’s best-selling novel, ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’, is a fictional story told by an eight year old boy, Bruno, during World War II. A forbidden friendship is formed between him, the son of a Nazi commander, and Shmuel, a Jewish boy held captive in a concentration camp.
‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ was released on Friday, 12 September throughout the UK.
